RESUMO
INTRODUÇÃO: O envelhecimento da população tem sido um fator importante para o aumento de transtornos cognitivos que afetam a memória, um processo que se intensifica na idade avançada, sendo o principal transtorno as demências, na quais a Doença de Alzheimer se destaca, um transtorno neurodegenerativo progressivo de difícil diagnóstico e incurável que se manifesta pela deterioração cognitiva que geralmente está associada a idade avançada, o que leva a dependência do idoso para realizar atividades de vida diárias. OBJETIVO: Conhecer a forma como a enfermagem cuida dos idosos diagnosticados com a doença de Alzheimer. METODOLOGIA: A pesquisa se trata de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, de caráter descritivo e análise qualitativa, a busca se realizou nas bases de dados on-line BVS e SCIELO. RESULTADO E DISCUSSÃO: O total de estudos incluídos neste trabalho, selecionados principalmente quanto ao idioma e ano, observa- se um quantitativo de 405 produções cientificas, referente ao tema em questão, através dos critérios estabelecidos, foram selecionados apenas 8, expressando certa dificuldade na literatura com estudos atualizados principalmente na área da enfermagem e especificamente nos cuidados de enfermagem aos idosos diagnosticados com doença de Alzheimer. CONSIDERAÇÕES FINAIS: É perceptível através da análise dos artigos a importância dos cuidados de enfermagem para a melhoria na qualidade de vida dos idosos diagnosticados com DA, bem como na vida dos cuidadores e familiares. No entanto alguns autores mostraram que apesar da relevância desses profissionais da saúde, muitos deles não sabem como lidar com as fases dessa demência por conta da falta de conhecimento sobre a mesma. Assim, o presente estudo soma com as pesquisas já existentes, dando mais embasamento para a busca do cuidado adequado aos pacientes com DA, melhorando a eficácia da assistência prestada, e assim oferecendo uma boa qualidade de vida aos idosos.
ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION: The aging of the population has been an important factor in the increase in cognitive disorders that affect memory, a process that intensifies in old age, the main disorder being dementias, in which Alzheimer's disease stands out, a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that is difficult to diagnose and incurable, manifested by cognitive deterioration that is usually associated with old age, which leads to dependence on the elderly to carry out activities of daily living. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study is to find out how nurses deal with elderly people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. METHODOLOGY: The research is an integrative review of the literature, descriptive and qualitative analysis, the search was carried out in the online databases VHL and SCIELO. RESULT AND DISCUSSION: The total number of studies included in this work, selected mainly in terms of language and year, shows a quantitative of 405 scientific productions, referring to the theme in question, through the established criteria, only 8 were selected, expressing a certain difficulty in the literature with updated studies mainly in the area of nursing and specifically in nursing care for the elderly diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. CONCLUSION: An analysis of the articles shows the importance of nursing care in improving the quality of life of elderly people diagnosed with AD, as well as the lives of caregivers and family members. However, some authors have shown that despite the importance of these health professionals, many of them do not know how to deal with the stages of this dementia due to a lack of knowledge about it. Thus, this study adds to existing research, providing further support for the search for adequate care for patients with AD, improving the effectiveness of the care provided, and thus offering a good quality of life to the elderly.
